10 Rules to Follow for a Happy Life

Here are 10 simple rules to follow for a more happy life:

1. Live in the moment.

Don’t wait for things to come to you. If you want to do or be something in life, do it. Enjoy everything and everyone that surrounds you. Embrace what you’ve got and live your dream. There are so many ways you can be happy right this moment. Don’t wait for tomorrow to arrive.

2. Make Plans.

Although you do want to live in the moment, make plans for the future. You don’t have to be thinking about them all the time but you’ll know that they’re there for when that time comes. Whether that be going on vacation, to a certain school, or maybe even a movie. Having something to look forward to is always nice.

3. Understand your life’s purpose.

When you know what your purpose in life is, you are more likely to be happy. If you don’t, ask God. God is the one who guides us through every step our lives. Pray to him and he will help you find your purpose.

4. Have goals set up for yourself.

Having goals gives you a sense of hope which ultimately gives you peace. When you have goals you are able to get inspired and do better than you’ve been doing. Make sure that you have goals but don’t try to achieve them at the risk of your well-being.

5. Be grateful and enjoy to appreciate the little things.

I’ve been doing this every day and that was my New Year’s resolution. Every day, say what you are grateful for and thank God for everything he has given you. When you learn to appreciate what you do have and not think about what you don’t have, you will see that you’ll start to get a more positive mindset.

6. Give.

Have you ever heard of the quote, “give and you shall receive”? Give something and in return you will receive happiness. Whether that be a little bit of your time, advice, money. Anything you give will make you feel not only happy, but also proud of yourself.

7. Take some alone time.

It’s always important to take some time to yourself. To find peace in a little bit of silence can do wonders.

8. Spend time with family and friends.

In contrast to spending time alone, it’s also important to spend time with your loved ones. Even if you’re all just sitting on a couch quietly watching TV, just having their company will make you feel happy.

9. Do what you love

Do whatever it is that you love because you are bound to find happiness when you do. That includes in your career. Choose career or job that you love to do. When you’re working at doing something you love, it won’t feel like work.

10. Don’t let the past affect your future.

Leave the past in the past. Remember in order to be happy you need to be focusing in the NOW not what once was. When you focus in the past you are more likely to feel sad because there is no way you can change anything from your past. Don’t waste time thinking about everything that has happened. Enjoy what you’re living right now and think about what you can accomplish today.

All these things can make you feel happier. Don’t focus on all the materialistic things because they are just that THINGS. Life is a precious gift, live it to the fullest of your abilities.
