1. Write an “About Me” page to get people to know you better.
This is very important as it’ll let your readers know more about you and who you are. You don’t have to go into much details but just outline the basics. Things you can include are, Why you decided to write a blog, a little bit about your family, what inspires you to write. You can also write about your skills and what you hope your readers get out of reading from your blog. If you are making a website about a business or trying to sell something, make sure you write details about that in the about me section as it’ll help readers understand your website more.
2. Have a place to write your ideas for new posts.
I know that I always get random ideas on a new blog post. I try to always carry a journal or an planner with me in order to write down any ideas that come to my mind when I’m not on my computer. Some people say “Oh, I’ll remember, I don’t have to write it down.” And once they are thinking of what to write about, their mind goes blank. Don’t let that be you and just get yourself a journal. In my opinion, a planner might be better because then you have the opportunity to write what posts you want to write about and when you want to publish them. This will also eventually help you set up a routine of when to post. Whatever method you decide to go with, staying organized is very important when you are a blogger.
3. Get out of your norms to write.
What I mean by this is that you should go somewhere else when you want to write. Somewhere other than the usual place where you blog. I know this might be hard for some stay at home moms (like me) because you really don’t have time to go somewhere else to write. If this is the case then just go to a different room, a different setting then where you usually go to write. This will also help you with writer’s block. And if you’re fortunate enough to actually go out then I’d suggest a coffee shop or somewhere calm and peaceful. I’m sure you’re bound to get many writing ideas there.
4. Comment on other people’s blogs.
Commenting on other people’s blogs is a great way to connect with other people who enjoy doing the same thing as you, writing! Not only that but when you comment on other people’s blogs, that also helps people notice you and maybe even want to go checkout your content.
5. Use Pinterest!
Making a Pinterest account and using it smart is a great way to gain more traffic to your website. There are many great blog posts about how to use Pinterest to gain traffic to your website. Pinterest is actually my number one source of traffic so I HIGHLY recommend it. Also, try to get on other people’s Pinterest boards and if they accept you then you have a higher rate of people checking out your blog.
6. Make Pins that stand out.
Going back to Pinterest, once you do make an account you’ll want to make pins that stand out to the reader. People usually just scroll through Pinterest. Once, they find a pin that is eye-catching they will want to click on it and of course it’ll go straight to your blog. How awesome is that? I cannot stress enough how important it is for your images to stand out.
7. Turn your blogging hobby into a paid job!
One of the coolest things about being a blogger is that there are so many ways that you can potentially make money from your site. There are affiliate programs, sponsored posts, ads you can display, and so much more. You can even create a product that people would want to buy and get revenue from it!
8. Be consistent.
Readers love consistency and usually the more you write, the more they’ll want to read. Staying consistent with your work also means that you will be creating more content. And with that being said, that means you can also reach out to a much bigger audience.
9. Be true to you.
Write about things that you love. Whether that be a hobby. music. movies. knitting. Whatever it may be make sure to stay true to yourself. If you do this then you are also more likely to achieve in staying consistent with your work. I cannot tell you how many people thought about starting a blog and at the end it didn’t work out because it simply wasn’t something they were passionate about.
10. Give it time.
Please know that gaining reader and potentially making money will take time. The more effort you put into your work, the more it will show and the better of you’ll stand out as a blogger. You can definitively achieve something remarkable if you just put the energy into it and give it time.
